Attachment Status and
Family Functioning
Attachment status also
affects family functioning. Family system’s theory outlines 3 types of family
functioning:

Adaptive-which is described
as mutually sensitive, openly communicative and supportive, while open to
each other’s autonomy
-
Disengaged/Avoidant-which can
be under-involved, angry and insensitive
-
Enmeshed/Anxious-which is
described as over-involved, intrusive, disrespectful of appropriate autonomy and
boundaries.
